Monavo started from a personal need. I tried several budgeting apps, but every time I ended up giving up after a while. Somehow, they always ended up requiring more effort than I was willing to put into tracking my expenses.
I'm Roland Moldovan, a developer from Romania, and I build Monavo on my own, from the code to the launch. Every expense app I tried ended the same way: I connected my bank, the sync was slow or threw errors, duplicates started piling up, and after a while of fixing them, I stopped opening the app. The hard part was never writing down what I'd spent; it was cleaning up after the sync.
I didn't want Monavo to pull in transactions on its own, in the background. I wanted the few seconds you spend logging something to be useful in themselves: a short moment where you notice what you just spent. Automatic imports take that moment away, and with it most of the reason to track at all. So the whole app is built to keep that moment and make it as short as possible.
Monavo launched on the App Store and Google Play in May 2026.
You write what you spent — "coffee 15" — and the expense is logged and placed in the right category. That's the whole interaction. Budgets, recurring bills, and a few simple notes are there when you need them.
Monavo doesn't connect to your bank, by design. You enter each expense yourself, so what you see is what you spent, cash included, and you never depend on a bank connection or on an aggregator staying up.

The last one matters most. Most people do start tracking their spending; the problem is that they stop.
Monavo has a free version that never expires. Pro adds cloud backup and sync, a higher quick-add limit and CSV import and export; there's also a pay-once Lifetime plan. The full plans are in the pricing section.
Monavo is available for iPhone and Android, in English, Romanian, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese.
