Subscription cost calculator

September 2026

Subscriptions renew on different rhythms — monthly, yearly, every four weeks — which is why almost nobody knows their real total. Type each one below with its price and how often it renews; the calculator converts everything to one monthly figure and one yearly figure. Nothing is stored and there is nothing to sign up for.

The prices are whatever you type; the calculator does not know current plan prices and does not store anything. Not financial advice.

Why the yearly number surprises people

A subscription is priced to feel small: a coffee a week, a lunch a month. Nobody prices it per year, because per year it stops feeling small. Six "small" subscriptions at around ten dollars a month are more than seven hundred dollars a year, and the ones billed yearly hide even better, because you pay once, forget, and get surprised twelve months later. Seeing them in one column, converted to the same period, is the whole point of this page.

What to count

Anything that renews by itself: streaming and music, the phone plan, cloud storage, the gym, apps and software, delivery memberships, insurance paid monthly. Utilities and rent are recurring bills too; they belong in a budget, but they are not the kind of thing you cancel with a tap, so many people keep them out of this list. Put them in if you want the full picture of what leaves every month before you spend a thing.

Tracking them month after month

A calculator tells you the total today. What most people want next is to stop being surprised: to know, in the month's budget, that the yearly renewal lands on the 14th. That is what the recurring bills in Monavo do — you set each one up once, with its day and its rhythm, and it is added to that month by itself, with an optional reminder the evening before. It never reads your bank; you type the bill, once. How that works is on the recurring bills page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a yearly subscription to a monthly cost?

Divide the yearly price by 12. For something billed every four weeks, multiply by 13 and divide by 12, since there are 13 four-week periods in a year. The calculator does both when you pick the renewal period.

What counts as a subscription?

Anything that charges you again without asking: streaming, music, the phone plan, cloud storage, gym, apps, delivery memberships, monthly insurance. Rent and utilities recur too; include them if you want the total that leaves your account before you spend anything.

Why is my yearly total higher than I expected?

Because each subscription is priced to feel small on its own rhythm, and yearly renewals are paid once and forgotten. Converting everything to the same period is what makes the total visible.

Can Monavo track my subscriptions automatically?

No, by design: it does not read your bank or your email. You add each recurring bill once, with its amount, day and rhythm, and Monavo adds it to the right month by itself, with an optional reminder the evening before. Recurring bills are unlimited on the free plan; details on the recurring bills page.
